I was a little scared of buying a Chinese product for the purpose of monitoring my house, however I found out that people have been checking its network traffic, and all it does is ping the Xiaomi company once in a while (a simple ping only has basic information such as the device ID,..).

I'm very happy with my Mi Home, and will be ordering more in the near future.
